How it works
You provide the site. We bring the energy infrastructure and the capital.
Many commercial and industrial businesses hesitate over large solar and storage projects because investment budgets are tight or approvals take a long time. As a rule, that hurdle disappears: our finance partners carry the investment, and depending on the model you invest nothing yourself.
-
01
As a rule, no equity
Depending on the model, solar, storage and charging infrastructure are financed entirely through our finance partners.
-
02
Low-cost power from your own roof
You buy the power generated on site at a contractually fixed, durably stable price.
-
03
No operating risk
Maintenance, monitoring, servicing and insurance stay with us.
-
04
Easy on the balance sheet
As a rule, the project ties up no credit lines with your bank — depending on the model and the accounting.
This is how the roles are shared: GFG Energy plans the project and manages delivery through to commissioning. In the financing models, our finance partner funds the installation, holds the investment and operates it.
Which structure is possible in a given case depends on the project. We calculate variants, not promises — the six models below show what is being talked about.
Principle
We calculate variants. We promise no return.
What an energy project delivers depends on figures that come from your company: consumption, price components, investment objectives, tax position. We put those figures into a transparent calculation and show how sensitive the result is to each single assumption.
-
01
An open calculation
Every assumption is named and can be changed; no black box.
-
02
Several variants
Technical and structural, calculated side by side.
-
03
Including the no
If a variant does not pay off, that is part of the result.
Models
Six ways to carry a project.
-
01
Contracting
Our finance partner funds the installation, holds the investment and operates it. GFG Energy plans and manages delivery, and you buy the power directly on site.
- Your benefit
- As a rule, no investment of your own.
- Worth knowing
- The contracts run for many years. Term and price formula deserve a close reading.
-
02
On-site PPA
A long-term power purchase agreement at an agreed fixed price from the installation on your own site.
- Your benefit
- Price stability over 10 to 20 years.
- Worth knowing
- The installation stands on your site. Area, structure and access are part of the contract.
-
03
cPPA and vPPA
Green power from installations away from your site: physically delivered (cPPA) or as a financial hedge with guarantees of origin (vPPA).
- Your benefit
- Predictable power prices and green power even without land of your own.
- Worth knowing
- With a vPPA no power flows, only a price settlement. The accounting treatment belongs settled beforehand.
-
04
Leasing and hire purchase
Use of the equipment against fixed monthly instalments; with hire purchase, ownership transfers at the end.
- Your benefit
- Calculable instalments, your liquidity stays free.
- Worth knowing
- The instalment affects your balance sheet and your tax position. That is for your tax adviser to settle, not for us.
-
05
Tolling
The capacity of a large battery is made available to a marketer for a fixed fee.
- Your benefit
- Predictable earnings, independent of how the market moves.
- Worth knowing
- The fee is fixed, the market revenue is not. Whoever markets it themselves carries both the chance and the risk.
-
06
Direct investment
You invest yourself. GFG Energy takes on planning, delivery and system integration.
- Your benefit
- Full ownership, and the returns stay entirely with you. Tax benefits such as the German investment deduction (IAB) and special depreciation are possible.
- Worth knowing
- It ties up capital and requires a decision on operation and maintenance.
§ 7g EStG
Using tax benefits with a direct investment
If you invest yourself, the acquisition can often be brought forward for tax purposes. Under German law, small and medium-sized businesses can, under certain conditions, form an investment deduction (Investitionsabzugsbetrag, IAB) even before the purchase and use additional special depreciation after commissioning. That lowers the tax burden in the early years and improves liquidity exactly when the investment falls due.
We supply you with reliable investment figures and schedules early on. Whether and to what extent these rules apply to your company is for your tax adviser to determine.
This is not tax advice: we calculate and prepare, only your tax adviser may assess and advise. The note applies to direct investment only — with contracting, PPA, leasing and tolling it is our finance partner who invests.
Which model fits depends on site, consumption and your accounting. That is what the site check settles: we calculate the variants that come into question for your company and set them side by side.

Attitude
A well-founded no is worth more than a beautiful calculation.
Knowing before the investment that something does not carry itself has saved money.
Basis of calculation
What goes into the business case.
These quantities determine the result. Each of them comes from a source that is named — nothing is estimated as long as the source is missing.
| Quantity | Where it comes from | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 01Annual consumption | Billing, load profile | Basis for the size of the installation |
| 02Peak load | Load profile, quarter-hourly values | Demand charge, battery sizing |
| 03Energy and demand price | Supply contract | The value of every kilowatt hour saved |
| 04Self-consumption share | Simulation from load profile and generation | The largest lever in the calculation |
| 05Feed-in tariff or PPA | Statutory rules, contract offer | The value of the surplus |
| 06Capital cost | Offers from the specialist firms | Basis of the payback |
| 07Operating cost | Maintenance contracts, insurance, monitoring | The ongoing burden |
| 08Tax effect | Your company's tax adviser | Shifts the result, not the engineering |
Frequent questions
What people usually ask about financing.
01 Do you arrange the financing?
We prepare the documents so that banks, funds or investors can work with them, and we accompany the conversations. The financing itself you conclude with your partner.
02 Do you include subsidies in the calculation?
We check which programmes are in principle open to your project and calculate variants with and without them. Commitments come from the funding body, not from us.
03 What does the business case cost?
That depends on the scope — one site with an existing load profile is something other than five sites without data. You get an offer before anything is calculated.
04 Can we keep the calculation up to date ourselves afterwards?
Yes. The analysis is handed over so that assumptions are visible and can be changed. If the power price moves, the result moves with it, traceably.
Site check
What is possible at your site?
In a thirty-minute first conversation you get an initial assessment of which combination of solar, battery storage and charging infrastructure could relieve your site. Checking and calculating come afterwards — with your load profile and the grid operator's information.
- Thirty minutes, no preparation, no obligation
- Area and grid potential: what is technically possible
- Financing options: how the project works without your budget
Helpful, but not required
- Load profile or annual consumption
- Roof drawings or an aerial photo
- Your last electricity bill
- Any plans for the site
If you have none of this, that is no obstacle. The load profile can be requested from your metering operator — we tell you how in the conversation.
