About GFG Energy

Engineering, software and financing from a single partner.

GFG Energy is your manufacturer-independent partner for energy projects in commerce and industry. We combine classical engineering with a software platform of our own and a strong finance partner. For you that means one point of contact, from the first assessment through delivery to years of operation and marketing.

  • Manufacturer-independent
  • Our own software
  • One point of contact

Engineering, software and financing coming together · schematic

Where we come from

From engineering, finance and sales.

Most parties in an energy project master one side of it. Planners calculate yields, banks assess collateral, installers build. What is missing is the place where everything comes together — technically sound, financeable and with a point of contact who stays after commissioning.

01

Engineering

Years of experience with plants, grids and what actually works on a commercial roof. That is where the ability comes from to check a design rather than believe it.

  • Plant and grid technology
  • Sizing from load profiles
  • Review of third-party planning
02

Finance

Years of experience with financing and with the documents a bank or a fund actually wants to see. That is where the ability comes from to prepare a project so it can be financed.

  • Project structures
  • Preparation for investors
  • Assessment of assumptions
03

Sales and support

One permanent point of contact from the first conversation — and still there when the plant has long been running. That is where the ability comes from to support customers for years rather than only until handover.

  • First conversation and needs
  • Support through every phase
  • Care after commissioning

Role

What we are — and what we are not.

What GFG Energy is

  • A manufacturer-independent general partner: from site assessment to operation
  • Our own engineers for design, sizing and grid enquiries
  • Our own software for control, metering data and evidence
  • The interface between engineering, grid operator, financing and construction
  • One point of contact across every phase, however many parties have a say

What GFG Energy is not

  • Not a seller of plants or components
  • Not an installation company — construction is done by specialist firms
  • Not a tax or legal adviser
  • Not a broker who recommends a solution before the data is in

Projects and capital

The right financing is part of the project.

Many projects fail not on the engineering but because nobody prepares them in a way that investors can assess. Conversely, funds and investors are looking for projects whose numbers are technically sound. GFG Energy works at both ends of that gap.

Which structure is possible depends on the project. We calculate variants, not promises.

  • 01

    For companies

A project prepared so that banks, funds and investors can work with it — including models without any investment of your own.

  • 02

    For investors

Projects whose technical assumptions have been checked and whose calculation is open.

  • 03

    In between

The translation: technical quantities into the language in which capital decisions are made.

Our own software

Control is our product, not just our tool.

Energy management and virtual power plant run on a platform we develop ourselves. It brings together generation, storage, charge points and controllable loads, evaluates the metering data and produces the evidence from it. We use it in our own projects — and we pass it on.

  • 01

    As a software service

You use the platform, we operate it.

  • 02

    Under licence

The platform runs at your site and under your responsibility.

  • 03

    As a complete package

Software and operation from one hand, as a service.

  • 04

    Under your own brand

For utilities and suppliers who offer it to their own customers.

Which form fits depends on who owns the plants and who is to be responsible for operation. That belongs before the design, not after it.

Our own system

Sites are ranked before we even speak.

GFG Energy maintains its own site database. Areas are captured from map data, roughly assessed and given a first estimate of their potential. That replaces no analysis — it makes sure a first conversation starts from a basis instead of a blank sheet.

  • Areas from map data, not from gut feeling
  • A first order of magnitude for the potential of each site
  • A rating that shows where a closer look is worthwhile

A statement only becomes reliable with the load profile, the structure and the grid operator's information.

Attitude

We earn nothing from which plant gets built. Only from it being the right one.

That is why our documents also state what speaks against a project.

Principles

What we hold to.

  1. 01

    Data before products

No sizing without a load profile, no binding recommendation without the grid operator's information.

  2. 02

    Variants instead of promises

Two or three routes, calculated against each other, with open assumptions.

  3. 03

    Including the no

If a project does not carry itself, that stands in the assessment — before the investment.

  4. 04

    Documents that last

Everything is handed over so that work can continue with it, even without us.

Frequent questions

What people usually ask about GFG Energy.

01 How does GFG Energy earn its money?

With assessment, planning and supervision, with operation, and with our own software — as a service, under licence or as a complete package, including for utilities. Not with the sale of plants or components. That is why our result does not depend on how large a plant becomes.

02 Do you work with fixed manufacturers or installers?

No, construction is done by specialist firms. We obtain comparable offers, make a proposal and coordinate delivery — the interfaces between roof, electrics and grid connection are our responsibility. The award is your decision.

Site check

What is possible at your site?

In a thirty-minute first conversation you get an initial assessment of which combination of solar, battery storage and charging infrastructure could relieve your site. Checking and calculating come afterwards — with your load profile and the grid operator's information.

  • Thirty minutes, no preparation, no obligation
  • Area and grid potential: what is technically possible
  • Financing options: how the project works without your budget

Helpful, but not required

  • Load profile or annual consumption
  • Roof drawings or an aerial photo
  • Your last electricity bill
  • Any plans for the site

If you have none of this, that is no obstacle. The load profile can be requested from your metering operator — we tell you how in the conversation.
